Lifetime Achievement Award 2018

The Tourism Industry Association of Canada awarded Nancy Stibbard, owner and CEO of the Capilano Group, the Tourism Toronto Canadian Tourism Lifetime Achievement Award at the Canadian Tourism Awards on November 28, 2018. The award recognizes someone who has made a significant contribution of energy, service and talent towards the growth of the Canadian tourism industry, through volunteer work, service or business accomplishments. Focusing on tourism building, the recipient demonstrates leadership, vision and innovation built on a solid foundation of strong values and sound business strategies.

Business of the Year 2012

The Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) honoured Capilano Suspension Bridge Park with the Air Canada Business of the Year Award at the 2012 Canadian Tourism Awards, presented by The Toronto Star and Visa Canada. Capilano Suspension Bridge Park was honoured at a gala ceremony at the Hilton Lac Leamy in Gatineau on November 20, 2012 as part of the Tourism Congress, TIAC’s annual convention.

The Canadian Tourism Awards are presented annually by TIAC to recognize success, leadership and innovation in Canada’s tourism industry, and to reward those people, places, organizations and events that have gone above and beyond to offer travellers superior tourism experiences in Canada.

BCAMA
Marketer of the Year 2012

The BC Chapter of the American Marketing Association (BCAMA) named Capilano Suspension Bridge Park as the winner of the coveted “Marketer of the Year” award for 2012 on October 24, 2012. Capilano Suspension Bridge Park has been recognized for successfully developing and executing an integrated campaign for the opening of Cliffwalk. “Marketer of the Year” is the BCAMA’s annual award program that recognizes the most outstanding integrated marketing strategy in the province of BC.

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park was chosen as the 42nd “Marketer of the Year” for its progressive campaign to launch the opening of Cliffwalk, which featured media relations, promotion, sales initiatives, online and social media, radio and outdoor advertising.

Best Tourism
Marketing Campaign 2011

The BC Tourism Industry honoured Capilano Suspension Bridge Park’s CLIFFWALK with the 2011 Vancouver Sun & Province Best Tourism Marketing Campaign Award. The BC Tourism Industry Awards, held on October 25, 2011 in Victoria, showcased the brightest and best in a variety of tourism categories.

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park developed an integrated marketing campaign for the opening of CLIFFWALK featuring long and short-lead PR, online and social media, print, radio and out-of-home advertising that launched with the opening on June 3, 2011.

Hall of Fame

Nancy Stibbard, CEO of the Capilano Group, was inducted into the Canadian Tourism Hall of Fame in Ottawa on September 7th, 2007.

The induction recognizes Nancy’s over 30 years of service to the tourism industry in Canada along with her many provincial national accomplishments.

2005 Innovation Award

The B.C. tourism industry honoured Capilano Suspension Bridge Park February 28 with the prestigious Outside of the Box tourism award. Capilano Suspension Bridge Park received this recognition for Treetops Adventure, the first attraction of its kind in North America.

Held in conjunction with the 12th Annual B.C. Tourism Industry Conference at the Westin Bayshore Resort and Marina in Vancouver, the Sixth Annual British Columbia Tourism Awards honours the individuals and organizations leading B.C.’s rebounding tourism industry. Tourism British Columbia and the Council of Tourism Association of B.C. established the Outside of the Box award to recognize forward-thinking companies that introduce innovative new tourism products that lead to business success and benefit the whole tourism industry.

National Tourism Excellence Award
2004 Innovator of the Year

The Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) honoured Capilano Suspension Bridge Park at the National Awards for Tourism Excellence as Innovator of the Year for the introduction of its Treetops Adventure attraction.

Serving as the leading national private-sector advocate for the tourism industry, TIAC encourages the national development of tourism and represents the interests of the tourism business community throughout Canada. Inaugurated in 2003, the National Awards for Tourism Excellence celebrate those individuals and businesses that represent the best the Canadian tourism industry has to offer.

2004 Harold J Merilees Award

Nancy Stibbard, owner and general manager of Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, was awarded the prestigious Harold J. Merilees award on May 25 for her work with the Vancouver Convention Centre Expansion (VCCE) Task Force. The award is presented to a person or a group who has made an outstanding contribution to the awareness of the Greater Vancouver area to the world. The award was presented to Nancy at the Tourism Vancouver Annual General Meeting.

National Tourism Excellence Award
2003 Business of the Year

The Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) honoured Capilano Suspension Bridge Park as the Business of the Year – Single Unit – at the 2003 National Awards for Tourism Excellence. The awards recognize organizations that are exceptional in their contribution to the development of Canada as a must-see destination.
