Kia’Palano

Indigenous Culture

Situated upon the unceded traditional territory of the Skwxwú7mesh Nation and Tsleil-Waututh Nation, the word Kia’palano means “beautiful river” in the Skwxwú7mesh language. Part of Capilano’s connection to their captivating story involves the tradition of placing totem (story) poles on the grounds at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park.

Get a glimpse into the lives of the Skwxwú7mesh and Tsleil-Waututh Nation people at Kia’palano, where the historical connection between First Nations’ culture and the natural world is highlighted. Kia’palano is an educational centre and enlightening thing to do during your visit to Vancouver.
